As the big girls and boys battle on the grass courts in The Championships at SW19, young players aged 14&U have been competing to earn their place on the grass courts of Wimbledon, through the 'Road to Wimbledon' competition - which sees regional qualifier winners go through to the national finals held on the very same courts which are currently hosting the likes of Kerber, Federer and Andy Murray.
The Northumberland County Finals took place last weekend and a number of academy players took part. Sam Knowles and Paul Freeman made the boys final, with Sam coming through as the eventual winner. In the girls, Lydia Smith and Emily Allison made the final, with Emily the eventual winner.
Well done to both players, time to find some grass court shoes!
