Dear Parent / Guardian,
Firstly, I would like to say that I sincerely hope that you and your family members are all safe and well during this difficult time.
As you know from our previous correspondence the Government’s announcement on 23rd March and the subsequent lockdown policy caused us to cease training sessions with immediate effect from that date. Prior to that announcement we had implemented a reduced number of squad sessions with social distancing measures in place, which I hope is a situation we can get back to as soon as possible.
All squad fees that had been paid for the 12 days at the end of the spring term, for sessions that unfortunately did not take place, will be credited to the next block of training. However, it may be the case that some of you would like these fees refunded at this time of financial difficulty; if so please contact us to request this if it would be helpful to you.
All of the staff at NTA are very keen to provide training opportunities and get you back on court as much and as soon as possible. Depending when restrictions are lifted one option, we are considering, is summer holiday training. In our opinion it is unlikely that many tournaments will take place over the normal summer period and that holiday travel will also be restricted, so this may provide an opportunity to run training and catch up on time lost during the lockdown.
Whilst you are unable to get on court you should consider this time as a physical training block and maximise the S&C work you can still do away from the court. We know from experience, with many of the Academy players, you are really working hard in this area and sharing some great videos with us and each other. Please keep up the hard work in that area because the benefits will be huge when you eventually get back on court. We hope you are all enjoying the online S&C sessions that Ross and Joe are running and if you have not accessed them but would like to please let us know and we will assist with this.
The NLTA Office is still open for communication (by email only), so if you have any queries or issues that we can help with then please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
I hope we will see you all back on court very soon, but in the meantime please stay safe, stay healthy and stay in touch.
Tom F. Kinloch – NTA Chairman
