NTA TEAM

CHRIS SANDERSON, ACADEMY MANAGER

Chris's coaching career spans 23 years of experience as a Head Coach, LTA Performance Officer and now Academy Manager. He has successfully coached players to Junior Grand Slams, with various titles at National, Tennis Europe and ITF Level. His knowledge of the performance game sees him working with many of the top juniors  within the academy.

TOM KINLOCH, ACADEMY CHAIRMAN

Tom is a Gold Badge Referee and has worked as a Davis Cup referee, an ATP Challenger Supervisor and currently referees the Aegon International in Eastbourne, Junior National Championships and a number of other international & domestic events, including the Northumberland Open. He is the LTA Councillor for Northumberland (since 2000) and served on the LTA Main Board from 2008-2012. He is the Vice-Chairman of the NLTA and serves on numerous county committees.

KIM SANDERSON, ACADEMY ADMINISTRATOR

Kim provides administration support, specifically around travel and logistics of the extensive annual tournament schedule the academy has in place. She has a wide knowledge of the game, having competed at a high level and been a successful coach for many years. Kim also manages the academy's school outreach programme.

SAM ARCHER, COACH

Adam joined the academy in September 2013. He previously attended the academy as a player, completing the AASE scheme. He is a Level 3 Performance Coach who represents Northumberland Men's County Team and captains many of our Boy's County Teams.

ADAM BOBA, PERFORMANCE COACH

Adam joined the academy in September 2013. He previously attended the academy as a player, completing the AASE scheme. He is a Level 3 Performance Coach who represents Northumberland Men's County Team and captains many of our Boy's County Teams.

LAUREN JONES, COACH

Lauren is an LTA Level 3 Coach and previously played at the academy, where she completed the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence. Lauren represents Northumberland Ladies County Team and works on the academy's outreach programme.

BLAKE MCMANUS, S&C COACH

Blake is a UKSCA accredited strength and conditioning coach working for the Northumberland Tennis Academy and Newcastle University. Blake currently works within Tennis, Rugby, Water Polo and Kayaking and has previous experience in professional football and semi-professional Rugby League. He holds an MSc in Strength and Conditioning and a BSc in Sport Rehabilitation.

JAMES NEWMAN, SPORT PSYCHOLOGIST

James provides psychological support to the academy players and programmes, and is also a Level 3 Licensed Coach and runs our Mini Red programme. James has three MSc's and runs his psychology consultancy in a range of sports. James has previously worked with the LTA, International Tennis Federation and Hartlepool United FC.

JORDAN SIMPSON, COACH

Jordan is a graduate of the academy who joined the coaching team in 2015. Jordan is a Level 3 coach with extensive experience of tennis is Northumberland both as a County Player, and as a coach at both Cullercoats LTC and the Northumberland Club.

SIMON TELFER, PERFORMANCE COACH

Simon is a LTA Level 4 Licensed Coach who works with all ages at the academy. Simon previously trained at the academy.

JOE WEAR, STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

Joe leads the strength and conditioning programme for the academy players. He was on the books of Hartlepool United FC before studying in the US with a scholarship for football at the University of Tulsa. Joe has a BSc in Exercise & Sports Science and is certified by the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCC) and the National Strength & Conditioning Association (CSCS).

CHRIS WHITTLE, PERFORMANCE COACH

Chris joined the team in 2011 and had previously served as Head Coach at two clubs in Cumbria . He has worked with with some of the county's best juniors, which made a move to the academy a natural step. Chris recently completed his Level 4 Senior Performance Coach award.
