Double Success for Northumberland

Northumberland Boys and Girls 10U teams are both on the way to National finals after winning their respective regional events to earn their places amongst the best eight counties in Great Britain.

The achievement is a remarkable one for such a sparsely-populated county and is testament to the hard work the players and coaches have put into a stellar group of players.

The girls, captained by James Newman, went the weekend without dropping a set. They beat East of Scotland, South of Scotland and Durham and Cleveland. The team featured Abby K, Jess H, Sophie J and Teddy P.

The boys, captained by Jordan Simpson, won all their matches and beat South of Scotland in the final tie of their group in Carlisle. The team featured Alex N, Alistair N, Jaiden K and Oliver C.

James Newman, Girls' Captain said: "This is a fantastic achievement for Northumberland Tennis. I know the coaches of all these players, both at the academy and elsewhere, have put a lot of effort into preparing the players to be the best they can be. More besides, the players themselves have shown incredible dedication over the past year and this is their reward".

The national finals for boys and girls take place at Sunderland Tennis Centre from 9-11 June. Get down and support our teams!
